Thank You Faux Design Studio!

Faux Design Studio of Addison, IL hosted "What To Do With Those Walls" on August 25. IFDA members and guests were greeted by an array of cutting edge faux finishes that adorne the walls of this studio. Owner Sheri Zeman lead the tour of the building, including the spacious and light filled classroom.

Sheri presented the latest trends in decorative finishing (think subtle and metallic), including finishes that have been designed by Sheri specifically for this years DreamHome at the Merchandise Mart.

Making a Difference with Design

Faux Design Studio recently had the pleasure of designing the space on behalf of the Finishing Contractors Association of Chicago, for DIFFA's Dining by Design event. DIFFA ( Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) is one of the country's largest supporters of direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS and preventive education for those at risk. Merging care and commerce, supporters of DIFFA come from all fields of fine design and the visual arts, including: architecture, fashion design, interior design, photography and consumer product design.

The theme of our space was Metropolitan and we were thrilled to incorporate the Hudson stencil into the design, using black recycled glass over LusterStone™ to create some major drama. The table was MDF board, woodgrained to appear as a beautiful walnut inlay. The base and floor were also particle board, and RSCrete™ was used to simulate a 2’ Limestone blocks. Kudos to the apprentices at the JATC District council #14 on their craftsmanship! The crowd had a hard time believing we didn’t spend thousands for the effect!

Sheri Zeman of Faux Design Studio lent her talents in designing the faux finishing for Chicago's Merchandise Mart ELLE DECOR DreamHome. The exhibit features “Fashion for the Home” showcasing nine rooms created by celebrated local designers and benefits the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation (UCCRF) Women’s Board.
