Making a Difference with Design

Faux Design Studio recently had the pleasure of designing the space on behalf of the Finishing Contractors Association of Chicago, for DIFFA's Dining by Design event. DIFFA ( Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) is one of the country's largest supporters of direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS and preventive education for those at risk. Merging care and commerce, supporters of DIFFA come from all fields of fine design and the visual arts, including: architecture, fashion design, interior design, photography and consumer product design.
The theme of our space was Metropolitan and we were thrilled to incorporate the Hudson stencil into the design, using black recycled glass over LusterStone™ to create some major drama. The table was MDF board, woodgrained to appear as a beautiful walnut inlay. The base and floor were also particle board, and RSCrete™ was used to simulate a 2’ Limestone blocks. Kudos to the apprentices at the JATC District council #14 on their craftsmanship! The crowd had a hard time believing we didn’t spend thousands for the effect!

Sheri Zeman of Faux Design Studio lent her talents in designing the faux finishing for Chicago's Merchandise Mart ELLE DECOR DreamHome. The exhibit features “Fashion for the Home” showcasing nine rooms created by celebrated local designers and benefits the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation (UCCRF) Women’s Board. The room will be open to the public until December 20. For more information and to view the rooms visit www.mmart.com/dreamhome.

FALL INTO FAUX
We were happy to see the sunshine at our Fall Into Faux event on Saturday September 27th. Attendees were treated to a number of demonstrations and informative discussions. We want to give special thanks to Michael Krawiec Instructor from JATC District Council 14 who did a phenomenal wood graining demonstration and provided information on the Finishing Contractors Association. Our own instructor Casey Carlson provided his unique and informative perspective on topcoats, distressing furniture and operating your business in today’s economy.

Guests were treated to the unveiling of Sheri’s premier line of LOFT 101 stencils as well as gift bags and complimentary sundries courtesy of Mike Weiss and Brad Bakle representing the Purdy Brush Company. Sheri’s new stencil line is now available on the products page of our website.

Faux Design Studio was recently featured on the Village of Addison's local cable access station. Click here to view the 30 minute episode.

Meeting of the Masters

We were honored to be invited to participate at the Meeting of the Masters in Dallas. The event was a wonderful opportunity to be inspired by the talented artisans from around the world. We were especially pleased to be visited by a number of our students from Chicago. Sheri’s Innovations In Faux program was very well received by the capacity crowd. Newly formulated ground-breaking Faux Effects® products were previewed and demonstrated by founder Raymond Sandor. These new Gold Label products will be launched in November. Signing up for the December Designer Walls Class will ensure your ability to use these new ground-breaking Gold Label products.
