Basecoat: SetCoat® 3367 – SetCoat® Professional Tinting System

C-500™ Gloss
Modello - MODALL 100 by Modello Designs

Step 1. Basecoat surface using the SetCoat® 3367. Let dry.

Step 2. Apply the Metallic Copper and Rich Gold StucoLux™ plasters wet on wet using only vertical and horizontal movements. Let dry.

Step 3. Apply the Modello. Trowel the Venetian Gem™ Tiger-Eye through the design opening. Let dry.

Step 4. Apply a heavy coat of the Foil FX Size™ through the design opening using a whiz roller.

Step 5. Let tack up, until a firm resistance is felt. (Between 20 minutes and 2 hours)

Step 6. Apply the foil (right side facing toward you) in random patches using both colors equally, allowing some of the Tiger-Eye to show through.

Step 7. Apply C-500™ Gloss (mixed with 25% water).

Step 8. Remove Modello.

We were pleased to host the Heavenly Skies Class taught by the masters Randy Ingram & Brian Townsend. Not only do they have amazing artistic talents, they are great guys and we thoroughly enjoyed their company. Here are just a few photos from class.

FINISH OF THE MONTH - JUNE 2008 - TIN CEILING

Supplies:

Basecoat: Setcoat™ White
MetalGlow® Caterpillar Gold, Mocha Gold
SoSlow®
FauxTex™
Setcoat® Clear
Varnish Plus™ Gloss
Victorian Tile Stencil

Step 1. Using a whiz roller, coat the surface 100% with FauxTex. Note: up to 10% water can be added for easier rolling. Let set up about 15 minutes, and lightly compress with a trowel. Let dry.

Step 2. Mark off pattern, and position stencil. Trowel FauxTex through openings, and immediately stipple with a brush, or sponge. Reposition stencil to do alternating squares on the same pass. Let dry, and finish remaining squares. Let dry.

Step 3. Lightly sand to remove peaks. Coat surface with Setcoat Clear. Let dry.

Step 4. Roll on the MetalGlow Caterpillar Gold, using a round nylon brush to ensure the entire surface is completely covered. Let dry. Another coat may be required.

Step 5. Mix about 30% SoSlow into the Mocha Gold, and roll over surface. Use the Magic Trowel to press into the texture. Soften with cheesecloth.

Step 6. Note: To further highlight the design, reposition stencil and apply desired color.

Step 7. Topcoat with Varnish Plus Gloss.
